ARIA AUCTION
We are looking forward to seeing you this October 6th, 2023 for Opera in the Heights’ 2023/24 Season Opening Gala Concert featuring Brian Vu and Chabrelle Williams. The evening will culminate with the Aria Auction, and we invite you to participate. Each artist has offered several aria options for you to consider and bid on. It is up to our audience to decide which Aria will be the winning piece! Below you can find a list of aria options for each artist with links to listen to each one in case you'd like to familiarize yourself with the pieces. Once you are ready and would like to cast your vote early, visit our 2023/24 OH! Gala Concert Aria Auction Page to enter your bid. Each one of your tickets will be a vote towards which aria you would like to hear. Example: I bought 20 tickets and I will place my 5 tickets for Depuis le jour from Louise by Gustave Charpentier (sung by Chabrelle Williams), and 5 tickets for Maria from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein (sung by Brian Vu).
Results will be announced on October 6th, 2023 at Opera in the Heights’ Gala Concert.

Depuis le jour from Louise by Gustave Charpentier
This exquisite and beloved aria comes from Louise, an opera once popular at the beginning of the 20th Century. Having fled her hometown for Paris to live a new life with her lover, she sings of her newfound happiness.
Summer Storm by Margaret Bonds
In her song cycle Songs of the Seasons, Margaret Bonds set four poems of Langston Hughes, one for each of the seasons. With rumbling jazz rhythms and soaring vocals, Summer Storm depicts thunder and the wonder of being in love.
Give me nobody without your soul from Blue Steel by William Grant Still
Neola falls in love with Blue Steel, an outsider of her village. Running away with him would mean going against the will of her father, the high priest of the village. Full of tenderness and yearning, this soaring aria is Neola's passionate plea to Blue Steel to make his intentions clear and confess his love for her.
