A Special Message from the Maestro

Season 2012–2013 will be the first season I plan in its entirety and from the start and I am really excited to invite you to join us. We will honour the works of William Shakespeare, and for this purpose I have chosen operas based on his plays for the whole season. That theme will lead us to celebrate the 200th birthday of Giuseppe Verdi. You will find a balanced list of repertoire in the four operas I have chosen.

The rediscovery of repertoire jewels is becoming a signature of our company that has gained new patrons and has sparked interest in our performances outside our home city, and even outside the United States. So in that spirit, we start with two that are rarely performed and new to us: Rossini’s Otello and Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi, and go on to celebrate Verdi’s Bicentennial with two operas our company has performed with success in the past: Macbeth and Falstaff.

Enrique Carreón-Robledo, Artistic Director
